Understanding Email Bounces and Delivery Issues
Table of contents
Email bounces can prevent you from receiving Stitch Along (SAL) patterns and updates. Learn about the causes of bounces, how to resolve them, and how to ensure you stay connected.
What Are Email Bounces?
- Hard Bounces: These occur due to permanent issues, such as invalid email addresses or blocked delivery. Hard bounces are automatically removed from our email list.
- Soft Bounces: Temporary issues like a full inbox, email server downtime, or overly strict spam filters. Repeated soft bounces may eventually result in removal.
Why Your Emails Might Bounce
- Email address doesn't exist or is inactive.
- Mailbox is full or incorrectly configured.
- Recipient email server is experiencing downtime.
- Message content doesn’t meet recipient server policies or fails anti-spam checks.
- Your email provider blocks emails without proper authentication.
Steps to Prevent Bounced Emails
- Verify Your Email Address: Use a valid, active email address for your subscription.
- Check Your Spam Filters: Ensure "Stitchonomy" or "Alyssa" emails are not being blocked.
- Authenticate Your Email Domain: If using a private domain, ensure it has a DMARC record to pass server policies.
- Use the Subscription Checker: Verify your subscription status with the Subscription Checker.
Common Bounce Resolutions
- Use a professional email domain (e.g., not Gmail or Yahoo) to avoid deliverability issues.
- Ensure your email inbox is not full or over quota.
- Review email server policies with your provider if emails are flagged incorrectly.
Quick Guide
- Hard bounces mean your email address has been removed from the list.
